Eek! We are so excited for our guest contributor today that apparently we are squeaking like a mouse. We absolutely love everything Brittany of Brittany Makes does. She has the most incredible knack for mixing vintage and modern into a perfect blend. Her kitchen makeover blew up the interwebs (yep we featured it here and on Instagram) and her newest venture The Vintage Rug Shop is already a big success. Hi guys! As Megan mentioned, I am Brittany the lady behind Brittany Makes and my latest venture The Vintage Rug Shop. I’m so honored to be here today! I’m excited to share a little bit about myself and my style. By day, I am a controller at a digital marketing company by day and a master home renovator, project doer and decorator by night. brittanyMakes has been my creative outlet since 2011, where I blog about home related projects and more. I’m a crafter and a maker, a restless entrepreneur and a goal setter. I rarely sit still, and lately I’ve been pouring all my time and energy into my new shop where I sell hand picked & curated vintage rugs & textiles. You may call it an obsession, but my love for ‘the hunt’ is incurable. My favorite spots to hunt for vintage treasures are flea markets, Craigslist & thrift stores (mainly for furniture) and Etsy! You will be surprised how many vendors world wide sell their goods on Etsy, almost the same stuff you’d find at West Elm or other big box stores. My style is a balanced mix between clean modern and California eclectic, which I like to call “California Cool”. As for my wardrobe, I love shopping everywhere. I keep two separate wardrobes in my closet: work and play. My work garb is a mix of Gap and J. Crew, while my play wardrobe varies from Lululemon (hello yoga pants) to Urban Outfitters, a bit of Anthropologie and Amazon. Amazon sells EVERYTHING. And I always take advantage of sales. It’s just in my blood to score a good deal. Navy is my favorite color, and my uniform is a worn out pair of leather ankle boots and a plaid boyfriend shirt buttoned up to the neck, tucked into a pair of skinnies. While I’m not scouring the fleas, I’m chillin’ with my husband and son and our pups.
