GETTING INSPIRATION: UPDATED TRADITIONAL

We are working on a beautiful new build in Arizona for a client that has an updated traditional style.  When we start working on projects we love getting inspiration from around the web to help us start honing in on the look that we want to achieve for the client.  This also helps if a clients style is a little bit different than our personal style.  Sometimes that is the hardest part of the job, being able to put your own aesthetic aside to create something that is beautiful and in-line with the look the client is wanting to achieve in their own home.  This is why it is so great to work with my mom as a team.  My mom’s style leans a little bit more traditional and transitional, while I lean just a little more modern and minimalist.  I am so pleased with the way that this home is coming together, so today I wanted to share some inspiration images and products that can help you achieve an updated traditional style in your own home.  If this is your style, you are typically drawn to neutral colors, lots of light colored wood, rooms with slightly rustic elements incorporated, and comfortable, family-friendly furnishings.  When we are sourcing products for this look, we typically shop at places like Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, and Wayfair for pieces to complete the space.

To get this look incorporate a rustic wooden console table with a metal top, an oversized round mirror, modern, streamlined lamps, and a natural fiber rug with a subtle pattern.

As we mentioned, a hallmark of this look is layering textures with neutrals to get a interesting look while still keeping a neutral, soothing palette.

Again, it is all about neutrals and textures.  This space is so serene for a master bedroom.  The linen fabric brings so much texture to this space and I love the juxtaposition of the modern bedside table next to the traditional, classic furniture and fabric choices in this room. This is a great reminder that you don’t have to pick one style and stick with it.  Have fun and put what you love in your home!
