HOLIDAY ENTERTAINING WITH WORLD MARKET

Happy Monday, everyone! We are so excited for today’s post with World Market and Oh So Delicioso, sharing a fun and delicious holiday entertaining table scape and recipes. It was so fun to partner with World Market for the tablescape decor and accessories for our dinner party.

We are just days away from Thanksgiving and weeks away from Christmas and all the holiday parties are upon us. Are you hosting Thanksgiving or a holiday party for friends? How about a traditional dinner? We thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite decorating items and trends this season and how to incorporate them into your entertaining decor. World Market is one of our favorite go-to stores when it comes to accessories and decor, so we are thrilled to be collaborating with them.

First, decide on a color scheme and run with it. For our dinner set-up, we chose a dark green with wood tones, and of course white and gold. We added the wooden stools on one side of the table which was a super fun way to incorporate our theme. This season we are seeing dark green hues pop up everywhere. Velvet is also really on-trend, so these pillows were the perfect touch. We also brought subtle pops of green with the napkins and the succulents. This gorgeous cake plate was the perfect addition to the table with the wood base and to add height and then this cake plate was an obvious choice as well. We love how the wood brings in an organic earthy feel to the table decor. If we had more table space, we definitely would have added these birch wood candles to add a fun ambiance at night.

Second, add softness through florals or greenery. We are LOVING everything that has to do with succulents right now, so it was a natural fit to incorporate them into this holiday themed dinner party. We added them to the cake and then potted them in these cute gold mercury glass votives and this glass vase to bring the table to life.

Our third tip is to add varying levels and layers on your table. One way we did this, was by using two different cups (how amazing are these with the gold base), one shorter and one taller to switch things up at the table settings. Like we mentioned before, we added the cake plates that are different heights and created levels by putting the vase on top of one of the cake plates and then the naked cake on the other. We also layered simple white plates with these amazing gold chargers – and then layered the napkin with my very favorite gold silverware on the very top. Aren’t they stunning?! You’ll also notice that we added a runner first thing and also threw this amazing warm throw to the chair to add another layering element. By adding levels, it brings more interest to the overall look of the table decor.

Des, from Oh So Delicioso prepared some amazing recipes with us for this collaboration. The Oh So blog is my absolute favorite resource for yummy and easy recipes for my family. She made this beautiful naked cake with her buttercream frosting (that is to-die-for), a yummy garden salad with poppyseed dressing and then my favorite part, the baked brie. She is sharing some of these recipes with us below.

We hope this helps you get inspired for the holiday season and makes you want to get festive! Now you can set the perfect table for your family and friends.

BUTTERCREAM FROSTING

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup room temperature butter (if you melt in microwave be SO careful. you easily risk getting it too runny, which will ruin your frosting.)
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 4 cups (half a bag) powdered sugar*
  • 3 tsp vanilla
  • *3-4 TBS of Evaporated Milk (can use milk)
  • For Chocolate Butter Cream add 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions:

  1. This recipe is really forgiving….
  2. Beat butter and shortening together on medium speed for a few minutes. Turn down your mixer to slowest speed and slowly add sugar, vanilla. Turn mixer back to medium speed and **add milk /one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency. beat for about 3 minutes the less milk, the stiffer the batter- which is best if you are cake decorating if you get your frosting too thin, add powdered sugar to stiffen back up.
