ONE ROOM CHALLENGE: WEEK 2

Hey guys! Last week I announced that I am participating in Calling It Home’s one room challenge. You can see my post here. I am transforming my master bedroom (because, I seriously have nothing in it). I spent this week making some decisions for my room and I am excited for some deliveries on my porch soon.

I purchased my sconces for over my nightstands and I also purchased these brass knobs that I will switch out from the original Ikea ones. I am super excited about them and had the intention of replacing the hardware when I bought the dressers. I think they will look fabulous with my bed… can’t wait!

I am still deciding on bedding, but I did pull the trigger on a rug…

I created this board to help me compare rugs and make a final decision. I ended up buying this one because we have used it in a client’s house and I lOVED it + I didn’t want to go with one that was too dark as I felt like it would take over the room. I want the focus to be the bed. When you walk up the stairs into my room, the space under my bed is what you notice first since I will not have a bedskirt. I knew I needed a rug to anchor that area and cozy up the space. Plus, it was 75% off during Rugs USA’s Columbus Day sale, so I was able to buy an 8×12 rug for under $250. SCORE!

As far as art goes, I am debating between two pieces from one of my favorite shops, A New Wall. They have the most unique art and wall murals. I WANT YOU to help me decide! Will you vote in the comments below if you think I should go with the watercolor in blue or the blossoms. They are two totally different looks and will both make a huge impact on the style of the room. Whichever one wins, I will frame and hang in the room (AND there might be a fun surprise at the end of all of this as well, just sayin’)! I would L O V E your feedback! xxo

  • Oh gosh! I am torn. I feel like the contemporary is the more obvious choice (and the one I am leaning towards), but the vintage option would definitely be more unexpected in the space. How is that for an indecisive, non-vote to help you out? :)8

  • The Blossoms! I think with the blues in the carpet it will pull out those few blue petals in the work. Also – I love how moody it is and it really seems to work better with the brass/white/black combo.

  • I like the contemporary! I love florals but I’m not feeling that one for your space. I love everything you’ve picked! Can’t wait to see it all together!

  • I think you’ll love the vintage florals for fall and winter! They’ve got such a good glam and moody vibe. And love your rug pick – pretty sure our house would have no floor coverings if it weren’t for those Rugs USA holiday sales!

  • While I usually lean vintage I think your gold accents and the rug you chose would be striking with the blue piece! What a tie in it would be for the room- crisp and clean and full of life. Loving the makeover!

  • I like how the watercolor would look with the gold accents but I think the floral would look better with your rug. I also think the floral looks great with the hats on the dresser. It like how it’s classic but has a modern look to it.
