PANTONE’S 2017 COLOR OF THE YEAR

As the year is starting to come to a close, we are getting into trend predictions for what will be happening in the home and interior space in 2017.  One of the most awaited announcements each year is what Pantone will pick as their color of the year.  This decision influences all kinds of things, everything from what you will see on the runways to what paint colors and home accessories will look like for the upcoming year.  If you guys recall from last year, Pantone really stepped out on a limb and chose two colors for the first time ever, Rose Quartz and Serenity.  I absolutely loved their choices last year, especially the beautiful blushy pink we saw everywhere.  I am going to be honest, this year I am not nearly as thrilled with their choice, but I am sure it will grow on my some when we start seeing it everywhere.  So, without further ado, I am hear to tell you what the color of the year is and show  you how you can incorporate it into your own home.  Drumroll please…….

greenery

So what does Pantone have to say about this choice?

“Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.”

Greenery really is “nature’s neutral” as Pantone describes it.  One of the things that Pantone does each year with their color of the year, is create different color palettes that would work well with their color choice.  As a designer, I always find this so helpful and I think it will be a great guide for you guys if you are trying to find ways to incorporate this color into your own home or wardrobe.  Pantone has 10 different thematic color palettes listed on their site, but I wanted to share my three favorite colorways with you guys.

As you can see, you can take this green and really play up its vibrancy with a lot of other bold colors, or you can choose to play off off some of the earthiness in the green and pair it with more neutral, muted tones that are found in  nature.

I know it can be intimidating to try a really bold color in a space, so I wanted to share some inspiration looks so you can get some ideas for how it might work in your own space.
